Outlook to 2030

In the long term it is estimated that solar power could contribute to an increasing part of the total energy consumption.

According to the European Photovoltaic Industry Association, with the appropriate policies both in developed and developing countries, by 2030, photovoltaic will be able to produce enough energy to supply electricity to 3,7 billion people globally. The majority of them will be located in remote areas where there is no access to the electricity grid. The forecast global capacity of photovoltaic solar power is illustrated as follows:
